Calif. Agent Kidnapped During Showing

AlfonsoGomezBroker.com - This is always very upsetting to me when I read about real estate professionals being attacked, harmed, kidnapped, robbed, etc. Luckily in this story, the real estate professional was not harmed.

As a real estate professional, we meet people, total strangers, all the time. I understand that and accept that fact. It fall upon us, the individual professional to use our sixth and seventh sense. When ever anything smells fishy or wrong, we must act, FAST.

Unfortunately, majority of attacks happen to female professionals. It is extremely important that we all use precautions to minimize our risk.
  • Always ask to meet clients for the first time at your office or public place.
  • Always advise co-workers where you'll be and what time.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and always know the exits.
  • Ask your clients to provide proof of loan approvals before showing homes, this way you'll know that they're serious and you'll know who they are. If they refuse, something is wrong.
  • When showing a home, always walk behind your client.
  • Always have your cellular phone charged and on your person.
  • When showing a home always leave the front door, and side doors when you get there, open.

These are just some ideas. I want all my clients to know that I may act overly precaution at first but that's only for my own safety.
